Click an image for a simulation of the Optivu® Adjustable Viewfinder. You can use it to get a feel for how the Optivu® works.
This simulation has handles for you to click on. With the real product, of course, these aren’t necessary. A specially invented mechanism allows the two halves of the viewfinder to slide over each other, yet holds them together in the position you choose.
To use the computer simulation:
First, select an image. You can either:
choose one of the samples
load your own image from your own computer. (See instructions on the right).
A small window will open containing an image and the simulated Optivu® Adjustable Viewfinder.
In the new window, click on the handles L and R to move the two parts of the viewfinder. You can use the R handle to push or pull the L half, if you open or close the viewfinder to its maximum.
Try out the different compositions you can get by adjusting the viewfinder - from big to small, from landscape to portrait, from square to wide or narrow. To lock and move the viewfinder as one click the Lock/Unlock text and use the R handle. To unlock the viewfinder click Lock/Unlock again. If the viewfinder moves too far out of position click Reset.
How to use your own image within the simulation:
You can try the simulation with a picture from your own computer.
To load your own image:
Find a picture in your computer. It must be a jpeg or gif file. (If it is another format, then use 'save as' in photo editing or graphics software and choose either the jpeg or gif format - jpeg is usually best for photographs).
Make sure you know in which directory of your computer your picture is filed, and what filename your picture has.
Single click on the “browse” button and double click on your picture’s filename.
Single click on the “place image” button.
A new window will open. If the image file passes the validation test then single click on the "Open Demonstration" link, otherwhile please try again.
Please note: · your picture is not uploaded to our server. The demonstration works best with a small - medium sized picture.
(maximum dimensions approx. 400 x 300 pixels)
The simulation gives an approximate idea of how the Optivu® Adjustable Viewfinder works. With the real product, you can hold the Optivu® in one hand, while you draw or paint with the other. A real Optivu® has a much greater effect than a simulation, too, because you have the whole world to look at and find compositions in.
